Check for any noticeable injuries or disabilities associated with the person’s current condition. It’s often done using a device called an automated external defibrillator (AED). This step involves using an electrical current to restore a normal heartbeat in someone who’s in cardiac arrest. If you notice that they’re bleeding badly, call 911 or your local emergency services, and apply pressure to the wound until help arrives. Check to see whether the person has severe bleeding. Sometimes you may see an additional letter associated with the ABCs of first aid. Studies found that the CAB approach was more favorable in providing a timely intervention. Chest compressions can be performed immediately, whereas checking the airway and effectively giving rescue breaths can take up crucial time.įollowing the guideline update, the new CAB approach was compared to the old ABC approach.Addressing circulation first by performing chest compressions provides vital blood flow to organs like the brain and heart. There are a couple of reasons for this change: As a part of this, the order that you perform the ABCs has been changed to CAB: In 2010, the American Heart Association issued updated first aid recommendations. If you find that a person isn’t breathing, chest compressions are vital for restoring blood circulation in the body. When organs and tissues don’t receive enough oxygen, they can begin to die. While breathing enriches the blood with oxygen, it’s the beating of the heart that delivers this oxygen throughout the body. Rescue breaths, along with chest compressions, are given during cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). This helps you temporarily breathe for the other person. You can perform rescue breaths on someone who isn’t breathing. Continue to do this for no more than 10 seconds.Check for the following signs of breathing:.Place your ear directly above the person’s mouth while looking down at their body.To determine if a person is breathing normally, take these steps: That’s why it’s crucial to determine whether someone is breathing or not. Regional resuscitation councils and organisations use agreed on ILCOR emergency protocols for their specific regions. The ABCs of first aid consist of three different components. If not, the responder moves rapidly into delivering Chest Compressions, opening the Airway and then Breathing for the patient (30:2). The AB portion of AB-CABS reminds emergency responders to check if the patient’s Airway is open and if he is Breathing normally. You will notice that the traditional ABCs order of priority care in EFR courses has been expanded to the new order of AB-CABS, continuing the steps into a Cycle of Care (rather than the patient’s lifeline). Recent PADI Training Bulletins and EFR The Responder newsletters announced that greater emphasis on early and effective chest compressions was the main aim of the 2010 ILCOR (International Liaison Council on Resuscitation) Guidelines. 9/28/2023 0 Comments Great wolf mantecaThe pet policies of Great Wolf Lodge Manteca are listed below. They were involved in various battles and operations against the Grand Army of the Republic, which consisted of clone troopers. The Battle Droids' design and presence in the Star Wars saga have made them iconic symbols of the Clone Wars era. They were not particularly skilled or accurate in combat, but their sheer numbers allowed them to pose a threat to their opponents.Despite their shortcomings, Battle Droids played a significant role in the Clone Wars, serving as the foot soldiers of the CIS. They were controlled by a central command system, and their effectiveness in combat varied depending on the quality of their programming and leadership. In terms of weaponry, Battle Droids were typically armed with blaster rifles or other energy-based weapons. B1 Battle Droids are the basic infantry units and form the backbone of the Separatist army. The Battle Droids were programmed to follow orders without question and lacked independent thinking or creativity. The most commonly seen type is the B1 Battle Droid, which is characterized by its lanky build and white and tan color scheme. They were often deployed in large numbers to overwhelm enemy forces and control strategic locations. There were different types of Battle Droids, each serving a specific function on the battlefield. They are primarily associated with the Trade Federation and later the Confederacy of Independent Systems (CIS) during the Clone Wars era.Battle Droids were mass-produced combat units designed for various purposes, including infantry assault, security, and support roles. Overall, this is a cheap line to collect and can be easily found, but collecting this line would probably be reserved for hard core collectors or completests. The Star Wars Battle Droids are fictional robotic soldiers that appear in the Star Wars universe. These toys can now be found in abundance at just about every comic, toy or hobby shop on the low, low. It remained very popular with the kids but most collectors slowed down after the first couple of action figure waves. This of course, was no fault of Hasbro, but the movie just wasn’t that well received with the fans. This line sold very well due to fans clamoring for the new Star Wars movie and toys, but it just didn’t catch on like Hasbro wanted. This was a bit gimmicky but it was still a nice try by Hasbro to bring something fresh to the figures. These chips would be placed inside of a reader and played different phrases from the movie related to the character pictured on the chip. Overall, the packaging wasn’t that bad and Hasbro gave us some new technology as well with the Commtech chips, which were now included with every figure. The packaging for the Phantom Menace line was very similar to the Power of the Force layout with Darth Vader being replaced by Darth Maul, and the color scheme was now a red starburst instead of the Orange/Green from Power of the Force. Sure, everyone bought Darth Maul stuff, but how many different Obi-Wan’s and Qui-Gon’s does a person need? Kids still loved Jar Jar Binks and little Anakin Skywalker, but collectors pretty much stayed away at that point. The backlash began almost immediately and action figure sales took a sharp decline. It seemed like Star Wars was back with a vengeance…….until the movie actually came out. Hasbro released their new figures and toys with fan events all across the globe in March of 1999, and the figures were gobbled up by kids and collectors alike as soon as they reached the shelves. Not only was “The Phantom Menace” the first Star Wars movie released since 1983, but it also meant we would have our fist new Star Wars action figures from a new movie as well.

Now, Jacob is the president of Thin Blue Line USA, one of the largest online retailers devoted exclusively to sales of pro-police flags, T-shirts, neckwear and jewelry. While in high school in West Bloomfield, Michigan, he had attended a memorial service for a police officer who had been killed on the job. He had seen the image of the flag on patches and stickers, he told The Marshall Project, but not an actual flag. In 2014, a white college student named Andrew Jacob was watching protests of police killings of Eric Garner, Michael Brown and Tamir Rice. Now, as police again become the focal point of a fight for racial equality in the U.S., the flag has returned to both mirror and amplify divisions.īut how did this flag come to be so pervasive? And what does it really stand for? County officials in Oregon recently paid $100,000 to a black employee of a law enforcement agency there, after she said she was harassed by coworkers for complaining about her colleagues displaying the flag at work. But it has also been flown by white supremacists, appearing next to Confederate flags at the 2017 ‘Unite the Right’ rally in Charlottesville, Virginia. Those who fly the flag have said it stands for solidarity and professional pride within a dangerous, difficult profession and a solemn tribute to fallen police officers. Officers have worn versions of the flag on face masks while clashing with protesters in Baltimore and in Washington, D.C. When deputies hoisted the flag outside government buildings in Cincinnati, Ohio, and Orange, California, the sheriffs in both communities were sharply criticized. Recently, the flag was flown from the back of a car alongside protests in South Dakota, and burned outside the Utah State Capitol. Though Flag Day is not a federal holiday, the U.S. And in 1949, President Harry Truman signed legislation designating June 14 of each year as National Flag Day. Four years later, President Woodrow Wilson issued a proclamation officially establishing a nationwide observance of Flag Day on June 14, the anniversary of the Flag Resolution of 1777. Up until then, some flags were oddly proportioned, Leepson explains, or even had six- or eight-pointed stars. In 1912, President William Howard Taft signed an executive order that, for the first time, clarified what the flag should look like. Meanwhile, in 1885, Wisconsin teacher Bernard Cigrand originated the idea for a national flag day. In 1870 the Betsy Ross legend took off when her grandson held a press conference touting her possible role in sewing the first flag, and the earliest flag protection laws appeared not long after. “This is the beginning of what some people call the cult of the flag, the almost religious feeling that many Americans have for the red, white and blue,” he says. flag until the Civil War broke out in 1861, at which time the Stars and Stripes suddenly became a popular symbol in the North, according to Leepson. It was almost unheard of for individuals to fly the U.S. Although legend holds that Betsy Ross made the first American flag in 1776 after being asked to do so by Washington, primary sources backing up that assertion are scarce. To this day, no one knows who designed the flag or why that particular color combination and pattern were chosen. But on June 14, 1777, it took time from its schedule to pass a resolution stating that “the flag of the United States be 13 stripes, alternate red and white” and that “the union be 13 stars, white in a blue field, representing a new constellation.” The Second Continental Congress was busy drafting a constitution known as the Articles of Confederation, seeking an alliance with France and supplying the war effort. Either way, Washington realized soon after that it probably wasn’t a good idea to fly a flag resembling that of the enemy, Leepson says. 9/27/2023 0 Comments Nice kindergarten graduation giftsWhile cash and gift cards are popular graduation gifts, they lack one element that really distinguishes a gift: something that’s personal, intimate, and from the heart. Whereas a more robust spend of $100 or more may be appropriate for a daughter or son celebrating a high school or college graduation or beyond. Then consider the closeness of the relationship and the age of the recipient: A gift under $25 is more than enough for a kindergarten grad or a child not as close to the family. When shopping for a graduation gift, determine a budget that is comfortable for you. In the most basic sense, an ABCs learning tool is right for a preschool graduation, whereas a dorm-prep gift works for a high schooler, and a more sophisticated gift of luggage or fine jewelry is just right for a college grad. The age and grade (or other achievement) of the graduate is among the most important factors to consider when shopping for a graduation gift.
